فعلى سبيل المثال، الأغاني والكلمات التي لا معنى لها تجد ملايين الناس يرقصون ويرددونها، ويصبح صاحب الأغنية مشهورًا ومعروفًا ومحبوبًا. بل حتى الناس يأخذون رأيهم في شؤون المجتمع والحياة.
أما الكتاب والمؤلفون، فلا أحد يعرفهم ولا أحد يعطيهم قيمة أو وزنًا. معظم الناس يحبون التفاهة والتخدير. شخص يخدرنا ليغيّب عقولنا عنا، وشخص يضحكنا بالتفاهات، أفضل من شخص يوقظنا للواقع ويؤلمنا بالقول الحق. ولذلك فإن الديمقراطية لا تصلح للمجتمعات الجاهلة، لأن الأغلبية الجاهلة هي التي ستقرر مصيرك.
