Вид птиц из семейства танагровых. Птицы обитают в горных влажных лесах в западных Андах на склонах со стороны Тихого океана в департаменте Рисаральда (Колумбия) южнее до провинций Эль-Оро и западной Лоха (западный Эквадор).
