وكان في المجلس أحمد بن حنبل ويحيى بن معين، فقاما إليه فقالا: أنا يحيى بن معين وهذا ابن حنبل، ووالله ما حدثناك بشئ من هذا، ولا نعرف هذا الحديث عن النبي.
فقال الرجل: أليس في الدنيا أحمد بن حنبل ويحيى بن معين غيركما؟!!
