Myiasis is a parasitic skin disease produced by Diptera Larvae (or maggots). The female lays eggs 🥚 on a cutaneous wound (see pictures) and the larvae feed on the dead tissues. Even if it's beneficial for the host at the first stage of the healing process, maggots can eat healthy tissues (when no more dead tissues are left) and predispose to deeper infection 🐢.
