1_لان جدار الشريان سميك ومليئ بالتغذية العصبية لذا فالحقن فيه يكون مؤلم جداً بعكس الوريد الذي تكون تغذيته العصبية قليلة والألم فيه اقل بكتير ،بالإضافة إلى ان الشريان يكون عميقا والاوردة تكون سطحية
2_ضغط الدم في الشريان عالي جدا بعكس الاوردة لذا فإن عند حقن الابره في الشريان فان الدم يتدفع داخل الابره بسبب ارتفاع ضغط الدم
3_الشراين تقود الدم الى عضو محدد..فلو تم حقن الدواء بها اثر تركيزه الشديد على العضو المحدد وعلى عملياته الحيوية وربما تودي الي الموت..بعكس الاوردة الكبيرة والتي غالباً مايحقن فيها ..والتي تقود الدم إلى القلب ويختلط الدم مع بعضه من كل أنحاء الجسم فيصل الدواء بالتركيز المطلوب.
4-نادراً مايطلب سحب دم شريان الا في حالات قليلة مثل طلب فحص غازات الدم او دراسة الاختلاف بين مستوى الجلوكوز في الدم الشرياني والدم الوريدي.
