Italian company develops ability to monitor tech in passing autos

In this Forbes article about an Italian company called Leonardo, developing the ability to monitor active tech in moving autos, it says:

technology that can scan moving vehicles for anything that emits a signal, including phones, smartwatches, cat and dog tracking chips and even library books

can identify specific models of devices like iPhones and Bose headphones inside moving vehicles

can even detect the RFID of a library book

The article continues to point out the uniqueness or a person's auto which could be used to develop a profile identifying the people involved (of course they could always use the license plate)

I thought a car was a faraday cage, also I did not think that RFUD emitted a signal, just responded to a signal sent to it.  So, how can this even work?

Newly uncovered hack campaign in Telegram

The campaign, which security firm Check Point has named Rampant Kitten, comprises two main components, one for Windows and the other for Android. Rampant Kitten’s objective is to steal Telegram messages, passwords, and two-factor authentication codes sent by SMS and then also take screenshots and record sounds within earshot of an infected phone, the researchers said in a post published on Friday.

Mr. Durov launched Telegram in late 2013 with his brother, Nikolai, just months before he was pushed out of VK, the Russian social-media platform he founded. Mr. Durov pitched his new app—funded with the proceeds from the VK sale—less as a business than as a way for people to send messages while avoiding government surveillance and censorship.
