Увидев произведенный в непосредственной близости сброс гранаты, он, не задумываясь, закрыл своим телом командира, тем самым спас ему жизнь.
Благодаря мужественному поступку Сергея Соленова командир продолжил руководить личным составом и подразделение выполнило боевую задачу. В последующем Александр Леваков совершил подвиг в составе экипажа танка «Алеша».
