Update on the man from the Catholic shop:

I went back to the store today, hoping maybe I’d see him again. The shop owner recognized me and brought something up—he said he thinks that man might’ve stolen his phone. Thankfully, his provider gave him a replacement, so he’s okay. But still… hearing that was hard.

I’m choosing to hope it’s not true. Maybe it’s a misunderstanding. But if it is true, I still believe God is reaching for this man. I saw something stirring in him on Sunday, and again two days later when he came in with a Bible and bought a rosary with his own money, saying, “God is real.”

Please keep praying for him. Pray that he stays on the path that leads to truth, and if he’s stumbled, that he finds the courage to come back and ask forgiveness. I believe God hasn’t given up on him—and neither should we.

Remembering Servant of God Francis Hong Yong-ho 🕊️

Dear brothers and sisters,

I’d like to share the story of Servant of God Bishop Francis Hong Yong-ho, the first bishop of Pyongyang, North Korea.

Appointed in 1944, he was arrested by the regime in 1949 and never seen again. The Vatican never replaced him, keeping the see of Pyongyang vacant as a sign of solidarity with the persecuted Church.

In 2014, Pope Francis declared him a Servant of God, opening the path toward sainthood. He is widely believed to have died a martyr for the faith.

Though much about his final years remains unknown, his silent witness continues to inspire. Let us pray for his beatification and for all who still suffer for Christ in silence.
