The Savant Shaykh Ibnu Uthaymīn رحمه الله said:

The People are in heedlessness about the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, So it's upon the students of knowledge to notify its virtues to the common people, because the the common people love to do good, But the students of knowledge have indeed been heedless upon notifying them.
