⚜️وشمگیر پسر زیار نواده‌ی آرغُش وهادان؛ دومین امیر گرگان و تبرستان از دودمان دیلمی آل زیار بود. او برادر و جانشین مرداویج زیاری است. امیر وشمگیر با دختر اسپهبد شروین دوم باوند ازدواج کرد که کیوس زیاری (قابوس زیاری، مدفون در گنبد قابوس) حاصل این ازدواج است.
⚜️امیر وشمگیر در سال ۳۵۶ هجری قمری هنگام سوارکاری با فروافتادن از اسب دچار ضربه‌ی مغزی شد و درگذشت. پس از او فرزندش بیستون به امیری آل زیار رسید. سکه‌ی معرفی شده در بالا، چند سال پس از مرگ وشمگیر توسط فرزندش امیر بیستون به نام پدرش وشمگیر ضرب شده است.
