وروى أبو نعيم في الحلية (3/151): عن مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ يَقُولُ: لَيَأْتِيَنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ لَا يَخْلُصُ فِيهِ إِلَّا مَنْ دَعَا كَدُعَاءِ الْغَرِيقِ. وقال الثوري في رسالته لعباد بن عباد : قد كدر هذا الزمان ، أنه ليشتبه الحق والباطل، ولا ينجو من شره إلا من دعا بدعاء الغريق .
