فعل و قید زمان، از مهم‌ترین مشخصه‌های زمان گذشته ساده در انگلیسی هستند.
تعدادی از کاربردی‌ترین قیدهای زمان در انگلیسی را در این قسمت مشاهده می‌کنید.
البته در نظر داشته باشید که اگر در جملات گذشته ساده از قید زمان استفاده نشود، مفهومش این است که شنونده از قبل می‌داند که گوینده به زمان گذشته اشاره دارد. در غیر این صورت، باید از قید استفاده کنیم تا زمان جمله را تشخیص دهیم.

1- yesterday (دیروز)

2- this morning ( امروز صبح )

3_ ترکیب last (گذشته) با یک قید زمان مانند
last night (شب گذشته)

4_ ترکیب ago با یک قید زمان مانند
