有个段子说：有人问欧几里得，几何有什么用。欧几里得回头跟随从说，给丫的几个银币，丫居然想从几何学那里获益。
这个段子影响我很深：首先我觉得从不同的「有用」定义出发，理工科也可以是没用的。
其次就是我觉得「xxx有没有用」的答案也不重要。重要的是为什么要问这个问题——欧几里得就回避了这个问题。而且我觉得按当前的生产力，我们容得下一些人做无用之学。

The global forecast for the Asian markets is murky following recent volatility, with crude oil prices providing support in what has been an otherwise tough month. The European markets were down and the U.S. bourses were mixed and flat and the Asian markets figure to split the difference.The TSE finished modestly lower on Friday following losses from the financial shares and property stocks.For the day, the index sank 15.09 points or 0.49 percent to finish at 3,061.35 after trading between 3,057.84 and 3,089.78. Volume was 1.39 billion shares worth 1.30 billion Singapore dollars. There were 285 decliners and 184 gainers.
