乾隆朝的尹嘉铨案，有如平地起风雷，令人深思。大理寺卿尹嘉铨有文人习气，爱做名臣梦，他的著述中不乏轻佻之言。案发时尹已致仕回乡，本来这样的人物不入乾隆帝法眼，但乾隆在看过他的两份奏折后，决定将他彻底批臭，并抄家，绞立决。本文始终关注乾隆的龙颜一怒到底是什么原因。乾隆在冗长的上谕中写道：“本朝纲纪整肃，无名臣，亦无奸臣。”清朝的一切皆由皇上乾纲独断，奸臣无处容身，也不需要名臣。尹嘉铨案揭示出盛清时代君臣关系的本质内涵。
