وهي تتجلّى في أعمال الإنسان وظاهره. والعبد هو الذي يلاحظ إرادة سيده، فيتبعها دون حرجٍ في نفسه، ويجعل إرادته تابعة لها مطلقاً. ولكي يتحقّق السالك بهذا المقام عليه أن يمارس هذه التبعيّة في باطنه وظاهره حتّى تصبح ملكةً راسخة لنفسه، فيكون عبداً لله تعالى بالحقيقة. فإذا أراد سلوك طريق العبودية عليه أن يسقط من نواياه ودوافعه ومن غايات أعماله وعباداته كل ما عدا الله. فلا يصدر عنه عملٌ أو فعل أو تفكّر إلَّا لله وحده. وهذا هو الإخلاص. ﴿وَمَا كَانَ لِمُؤْمِنٍ وَلَا مُؤْمِنَةٍ إِذَا قَضَى اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَمْرًا أَن يَكُونَ لَهُمُ الْخِيَرَةُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِمْ وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَالًا مُّبِينً﴾.
