إذا صليت على النبي ﷺ سيصلي الله عليك كما جاء ذلك في الحديث الصحيح «من صلىٰ عَلَيَّ صلاةً؛ صلىٰ اللهُ عليه بها عشْرًا» وإذا صلى الله عليك: رحمك وأثنى عليك في الملأ الأعلى، وأخرجك من الظلمات إلى النور، مصداق ذلك قوله تعالى: ﴿هو الذي يصلي عليكم وملائكته ليخرجكم من الظلمات إلى النور وكان بالمؤمنين رحيمًا﴾.
قال ابن كثير في تفسيره لهذه الآية: (الصلاة من الله تعالى ثناؤه على العبد عند الملائكة، حكاه البخاري عن أبي العالية.. وقال غيره: الصلاة من الله عزوجل الرحمة.. وأما الصلاة من الملائكة فبمعنى الدعاء للناس والاستغفار.. وقوله تعالى: ﴿لِيُخْرِجَكُمْ مِنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ﴾ أي: بسبب رحمته بكم وثنائه عليكم ودعاء ملائكته لكم= يخرجكم من ظلمات الجهل والضلال إلى نور الهدى واليقين).
