والمعنى: أنّ الدهر مختلف الشؤون فكن متلوّنًا كتلونه، وخالق الناس بأخلاقهم، ولا تكلفهم من خُلقك ما لا يطيقون، فإذا وُجدت بين الكَيْسى ذوي الأحلام والعقول فكن أنت أكثرهم رزانةً وعقلا، وإذا ابتليت بأهل الحماقات فكن أنت أشد منهم حُمقًا، والبس لكل حالةٍ لبوسها، واجرِ مع الدهر كيفما يجري.
