在这些小说假想的末世灾难里，所有人都要被迫搬离家园流浪到别的地方，而不仅仅只是那些欠发达地区的人需要为了生计而移民；所有人都没有了生育与不生育的自由，而不仅仅只是少数族裔、性少数、穷苦的人被剥夺选择的权利...
往好里说，这些小说让我们更深刻地体会到了社会中被压迫群体的生活。往坏里说，这些小说让社会中被压迫群体的生活和科幻想象等同了起来，从而更难让人去倾听真正经历苦难的人的声音了。
这也就是为什么我拒绝在我的小说里描绘想象中的末世。因为我不愿意用想象去替代我们社会中受苦最为深重的人的经历和现实。 source
